Didn't mention his programme on Radio 2 to which many jazz fans listen and approve.

I thought Humph came over exceptionally well on His Braggness's South Bank Show. Chops blown but still functioning well for an artist of his years. His r2 show will now be intermittent. An unlikely but attractive mix of people in his band; the lady sax players could blow a cool solo by the sound of it. The highlight for me was his swing band, was that Danny Moss and Joe Temperly?

Startling, particularly surmounting the alarming creased face with the 'pissholes in the snow' eyes.

Humph did a candid, warm Desert Island Discs interview where he talke about becoming a widower and his early
years. The measure of the man is that he has nothing of the celebrity of him, is an entertainer and a scholar.
Sad to hear he's cutting back , but I;ve always wondered how he gigs tirelessly up and down the land week in week out . While I'm at it...Mornington Cresent.

Definitely Joe Temperley. Humph's band was decidedly "mainstream" even back then wasn't it?
