I believe-I haven't checked-that jazzfm.com, which was run by Mike Chadwick when Smooth FM began to shed its jazz content, is still online if dormant, so he may reinstate it. I'd reccomend wbgo, secured by membership drives and syndication across npr, as an alternative `although its pretty much mainstream only and no Brit or Euro artists to speak of. I'm among the Brits who's had a friendly e-response occasionally from the presenters there .imho the u.s model of subscription funding would have benefited thejazz, and would benefit radio 3.

...interesting case; gcap was vulnerable because it was investing in new formats/programmes/platforms - jazz and dab for an eg.
their cash position, not unhealthy, just not great, then makes them vulnerable to takeover by the ceo who did so much for itv's decline, he can make a cheeky cash & share offer and make rude noises about their returns.

ever wondered why there are no great brit companies in investment led businesses? an economy dependent on money lenders/loan sharks/gamblers, supermarkets and jerry builders? look at gcap!

Very acute analysis Calum-I hadn't realised ex ITV `shark was behind it-total switch from the buzz about niche programming and marketing that heralded DAB. Tragic for production values...earlier I heard a snatch of R4's Front Row where the vox pops increasingly bang on 'ironically' about hollywood etc exported to exotic climes to set up a shortened analysis of local product.
