"...so to succeed as a violinist like Nigel Kennedy..."

There's so many ways that could have been expressed betterly.

But basically, good, it sounds like an extension of the connections they've had for a long time with the BBC Phil.  And as many of that orchestra are ex-RNCM students, there's a common interest and a common understanding of the realism that is needed, of what is most useful for them to feed back to students and to staff, and tackling the areas which a traditional British music college (conservatoire just doesn't sound right) education has not always been as good as it should be.

Trouble wi' Nigel Kennedy were that he drank too much - not a patch on that nice old Paddy Ashdown. And in any case t'RNCM has grown into a shoebox (remember the good old "Manchester College of Music" where Curley once wanted to go before he took up the bins?).

You know Ena, you are right to call the RNCM a shoebox, although they are not made out of bricks like the RNCM. It feels like a barracks, not very 'full of atmosphere' like where I went a rather long time ago !

Kennedy (as he is now called Ena) looks drunk most of the time and I'm afraid I can't WATCH him play anymore. I don't mind listening to him but he doesn't exactly bowl me over.

I can't watch him either - I often watch BBC Parliament to get a glimpse of the bloke, but he's never there. I think the blummin'ummer just spends his time down 't pub.
