Obviously Ian has been photographically challenged today, otherwise we'd now be enjoying the fruits of his labours on a rainy Euston Rd. But poor guy: almost everyone was smoking! And he did last a long while without one, whatever the scale of his capitulation later on...

Well, for some mysterious reason, I cannot at all get the camera to turn on now (there are new batteries, I've tried it plugged in the mains, every combination of buttons). There don't seem to be any locks on it. Just nothing happens. It's a Camedia C-725 Ultra Zoom - anyone have any suggestions?

Did the camera get wet? If it was not specifically designed for all-weather use, then it's possible that water has made ingress and shorted out the electronics. The only other suggestion I can offer is that you take the batteries and memory card out, and see if there's any moisture anywhere; leave everything open as much as possible, somewhere warm and dry, and keep your fingers crossed for tomorrow....

I don't think it got wet, and can't see any moisture, but I will try leaving it open in a warm, dry, place, and see what happens.

What happens if you plug it into your computer? Nothing still? Alas still nothing. Eek. Have you tried consulting a homeopath? Even the tiniest traces of water can do the most terrible things. Think you'll end up bringing it to some vendor so that they can have a look see at it?

Think you'll end up bringing it to some vendor so that they can have a look see at it? Probably - just wondering where is best to try where they won't ask lots of money in order to tell me nothing can be done? Anyone have any suggestions? (not sure where it came from, but can probably find out)
