Neither Don nor I is a closet person, Turfo. Oo pedantry point. Don nor I are... Don nor I am... or does the verb agree with person? Photos up later this afternoon. Paintshop Pro going the speed of a sloth of valium.

Better than tweed affection.
Oh I don't know. There's a joke about the attractions of rough Serge in there somewhere but I haven't quite worked out where.

Well here we go. From an old newspaper cutting, lovingly framed in my study: Among those already identified, George Garnett holding a pint glass of gin and tonic, Moticia looking straight ahead, talented bloke in thin tee shirt and Bobby Z on far right. Others may like to identify themselves.

I was particularly requested to take a photograph of the following tasteful nature morte, (or Nature Mort) to be entitled Martle's Nuts

Can't be that old; it was obviously produced in the wake of Sin City.

And here is martle himself, in contemplative mood and soft focus Here is the image in context Bobby Z's head in front. George in blue pullover, having finished a pint of gin.

If there has been an operatic production in the South of England in the past five years which neither of these two has seen, then it was not worthwhile in any case.

For George, here is a joke from 1911:
Rachmaninov: Hey, Iggy! How's the material for that pagan balet idea of yours? Stravinsky: it's rough, Serge.

Not wishing to attract undue attention, George attempts to shake off the alligator that has attached itself to the Garnett foot. Eruanto is unconvinced by the technique employed.

Thanks for the photos and the company. Sorry that somehow I didn't manage to exchange any words with Messrs Torquemada and Eruanto but I hope that will work out next time.

OK, Richard, like to identify the Barrett in the following: A noticeable hat just in view, as well. The ubiquitous Garnett, our Moderatrix and the talented young man in the tee shirt obvious, but any others like to make themselves known. Totally up to them, of course.

OK, Richard, like to identify the Barrett in the following:
I am the only person whose right ear is visible, and I seem to be spinning George some line of arrant nonsense that he clearly isn't being taken in by for one moment and which Morticia is demurely ignoring.

Here is martle looking aghast for some reason I don't know and a nice bloke in a white suit expostulates to his left (our right). Two as yet unidentified women adopt a matching position with chin on hand. A fiend for Bach fugues in the front - back view. O and another composer in the background.

The ubiquitous Garnett, our Moderatrix and the talented young man in the tee shirt obvious ...
Hmmm. Yes. Extremely ubiquitous for someone who was trying to avoid the paparazzi all evening . I'm sorry to see that no one caught Mort's Kate Winslet moment for posterity though . How are the woollies coming along for Eru, fellow knitters? I've just got one sleeve to finish off and then mine's done. Here is martle looking aghast for some reason I don't know I may be wrong about this because some details of the evening are a little unclear in my mind but I believe that at this point Martle was not so much aghast as agape, trying to catch his own nuts being thrown at him by Mort. Agape moves in mysterious ways.
