I'm having my own r3ok meet up at the moment since I seem to be the only member living in this wonderful city. John W is probably the nearest but he must be 30 miles away.

"Hello I'm Andy."

"So am I, what a coincidence."

Hi Andy,

25 miles, so I'm a half-hour drive (if I take the M6) from Brum. It would be good to have a small meet-up in Brum as doing London is a bit of a chore.

I know Brum very well as I worked there for neary 30 years, and still meet up with old colleagues once or twice a month, sometimes at The Wellington or a pub on Hagley Road like the Cock & Magpie or the Dog, Figure of Eight (Broad St) or the Weatherspoons at the library (does it have an actual name?). Sometimes eat at Brindley Place or the Mailbox. I haven't been to a music venue in Brum for many years.

Anyone else in our neck of the woods?

That's what I'm trying to determine. Surely not everyone lives in Lunnun? I know all the pubs you mention, in fact I'm going to the Wellington tomorrow to have a drink with my brother. The Wetherspoons by the library is just called Wetherspoons. Here's a picture of 2 blokes suspended above it:

When in doubt, wash.

Doesn't look as though anyone else is going to admit to living near you Andy!  Cheesy

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Ahem.

Just because one doesn't live in (or near) Lunnun doesn't mean one lives in (or near) Brum.

It does if you're Finnish.

The city is a process which always veers away from the form envisaged and desired, ... whose revenge upon its architects and planners undoes every dream of mastery. It is [also] one of the sites where Dasein is assigned the impossible task of putting right what can never be put right. - Rob Lapsley
