Your information's a bit out of date there, martle. It's all synthesised chemicals these days, isn't it?

It's both, from what I can see, tinners.  Shocked

Um, sorry IRF, I seem to have dragged this thread away from your original and interesting question. I am a bad person Sad

If a single thread has two distinct topics running through it, is that polyforum?  Tongue

Not to worry. Almost every name given in this thread has been new to me so I've got lots to explore. It might take me a while to get round to them all, though Smiley

Wasn't Ugolini mainly notorious for supposedly having killed and eaten two of his students in a fit of jealousy, George?

...with some fava beans and a nice Chianti...

Has anyone here been to Hell (perhaps on a cruise, camping holiday or part of some other kind of package vacation) and remembered sufficient of the experience to tell the rest of us convincingly that it was primarily "boring"? - if not, perhaps the thread title might reasonably be considered to be amenable to a little subtle alteration in order to accommodate such lack of Hadean experience.

Off to try to consider what might conceivably be argued to be the relationship (in the present context) between "Renaissance music" and the second movement of Alkan's Grand Duo for violin and piano, Op. 21...

Best,

Alistair

I've never been but I do know somebody who lives in Hell*! I don't know if it's particularly boring but I do know it's an excellent place for music of all kinds  Smiley
