Expressions such as 'the ultimate in serious music " are so vulgar, are not they?

What is "serious music"?

I like this term serious music. It is music for people with brains and not just for people to help them to forget that they have them.

I feel that even good songs can not be called serious. They don't have the depth that symphony or opera would have.

May be a song can be called serious.

The first time I played Schubert's 'Döppelgänger' it took my breath away! Do you know it?

I probably do, but I don't remember names in German.
I love Schubert songs. My favourite is with clarinet "Shepherd On The Rock."

This was not my best day mentally. I am tired. I wish I could delete that my previous post.

What is "serious music"?

Music written expressly for - and performed at - funerals?

You mean like Eddie Durham's arrangement of Joe Garland and Andy Razaf's "In the Mood", as played at Peter Sellers's" funeral (at his request)?

O.k., so it was probably not written expressly for performance at a funeral, but it is a blues-based composition. Wink
