Just wondered how you guys would classify this - is it classical, crossover or pop - or "light classical" maybe?

And what would Mahler have thought of it, do you think, after just finishing "Alles vergangliche..." in his 8th?

The Emperor suspected they were right. But he dared not stop and so on he walked, more proudly than ever. And his courtiers behind him held high the train... that wasn't there at all.

Mythodea ..... oh dear  Roll Eyes

I would class it as 20thC film music, in with the material from Lord of The Rings, Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Gladiator.......

I lasted a minute and a half. What language are the ladies (Norman/Battle !!) singing in?

I understand your reaction on this choral symphony, Mythodea by Vangelis. I have mixed feelings about it myself.
It sounds a little bit like a duet from the opera that is in commercial (is it Delibes or Massenet, I can never remember) in parta one http://youtube.com/watch?v=xRtTJkgvTnc&mode=related&search=

Also I used to look down on music for movies. What is music for movies, but good or sometimes not so good music.
It is some kind of spectacle. I don't like people singing in a microphone, but they use kind of magnification in big halls (install microphones somewhere). I didn'lt like the use of electric keyboard (I happen not to like the sound), but this is a new instrument now.
On the other hand it is a kind of choral opera and even has visual effects etc. May be Liszt, Wagner or even Mahler would look nicely on such a development. May be even Richard Strauss would take a notice.
