Haven't listened to the whole programme yet but made sure I heard and recorded the final piece, Phil Cashian's Caprichos for clarinet, violin, cello & piano, which I was responsible for commissioning from him for the Chroma Ensemble to première in 2003. I heard it 3 times then but haven't heard it since. It really is an enjoyable piece. Phil took some time to decide on which instruments to use for the work and his final selection was somewhat influenced by Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time - there's more chance of getting repeat performances if you use the same line-up as that piece.

Sigh! those were the days when you could get money to commission new works Sad - as some of you already know, we've had to drop our proposed commission this season due to lack of Arts Council funding.

Andy

Don't have anything to say about the Cashian other than bravo for the commission. But this seems as good a place as any to point out that if you tune in half an hour early for Hear and Now this Saturday ( Nov 17th ) you'll get a programme about the Jimi chord !

Thanks Bobby, I just heard a trailer for the Hendrix chord programme, I'll make sure I don't miss it. These trailers are useful aren't they? Wink
