Just heard a snippet of news that PMD has contacted police because he believes £500,000 has disappeared from his business account!

Well, if anything, it shows that composition pays!!

I'm very sorry to hear this.I don't have a credit card, but it seems  the possibilities for stealing money electronically are growing.

Which of us really knows how safe our money is and how easy it would be to get at it?

I've had bank accounts for credit cards for over 30 years and (fingers crossed) never been defrauded. It is getting easier now with so many staff in shops and banks having electronic know-how.

I think in PMD's case it might be an accountant, who was given authorised access to his accounts, who has wrongfully moved money. That has happened to the likes of Sting and Elton John.

Hadn't seen this had hit the news, but (unless he's been defrauded again by his new accountant!?!) this all happened back before Christmas, and was known about at the time, at least in the music community.

Can you post a link, John?

I had something like two grand taken from my account because my bank card was copied by some nasty guys a couple of months ago. Grrr.  Bank gave me money back.  Feeling like I should get insurance on my credit card now though; I use it quite a lot online.

I had 850 quid wrongly put into my account 4 years ago.

I kept quiet and said nothing.  My accountant says that bank errors which remain uncorrected for 4+ years are their own problem, not mine, so I can spend it now.   And without the slightest feeling guilt,  after all those outrageous fees I've paid all these years Wink

'Fraid not tin, it was a bulletin on ClassicFM news. Nothing on their website, and a bit odd that the story's not found via yahoo/google so seems a case of old  Roll Eyes news but the bulletin distinctly said he had contacted police  Huh

If I were to post the info I have recently acquired about this (i.e. Max's being defrauded), I might be subject to legal proceedings, so I won't. Suffice to say that it's all highly fishy and could provide some nice breakfast-time reading in the coming weeks.

Heh, heh,

When searching for PMD's problem I keep finding references to several Mr Davies' of so-and-so bank grumping about being defrauded by Mr Maxwell Roll Eyes

There has been an arrest hasn't there? Not that that is the same as being found guilty of course.
