Listen to the music that's being played for the State Visit of King Abdullah (at the start of the clip):

I admit it. I laughed.

Er, but don't read the comments and responses (at least as they stand at the moment) unless you want to stop laughing sharpish.

Perhaps King Abdullah asked for the Imperial March because he's a fan of Darth Vader. After all, Vader liked to cut off people's hands too.

I've split the rest of this thread, which has become involved with this afternoon's broadcast of From the House of the Dead and started it as a new topic.

A deft incision, Ron!  Smiley

As for the King of Saudi Arabia, I was thinking 'Darth Vadar'-type thoughts on Tuesday as our coach to the ROH crawled through inner London due to the congestion, Waterloo Bridge (our intended 'dropping-off point') being closed due to the visit. It took three-quarters of an hour to get from Piccadilly to the Strand!!  Undecided

What I would like to know is: did Vader being Luke's father come as any surprise to the Dutch?

Interesting point, o-s, but I really don't know the answer. I'm not an expert on the Star Wars films. The last time that I saw one was more than ten years ago, I think.

You can't remember whether when Darth Vader said 'I am your father' you thought 'well, der, that's what your name means'? Wink

No, I didn't think that. The name "Vader" is being pronounced as the Dutch word "veder", an old fashioned word for "feather".

Well, I suppose that answers one of my long-held questions...  Cheesy
