Unfortunately for Andy Kershaw he seems to have a self-destruct button. He was only released on Friday and he's back inside again.

What can one say, Andy? That it's a desperately sad, if not exactly an isolated case: proof yet again that even those who may seem to have a fulfilled and enviable life can still come off the rails.

It's hard to imagine where he can go from here: I really hope he can put himself back together, but it'll be a long tough haul....

I read an interview he gave soon after his release on Friday. I think it was in the Daily Mirror yesterday. It was clear from it that he still had problems. He had no clear plans and he felt very bitter about the way he had been treated, feeling he was the innocent party and that the punishment had been very harsh. But it ended with a vow that he would never go back to jail. I wasn't convinced by that then.

This is the interview I was referring to. It appeared in the Daily Mirror the day before he got arrested again.

I really don't think we should comment about Andy Kershaw, he has his demons, it is not not us to comment about them.

We're only saying how sad the situation is for all concerned.  Nobody is really criticising him, in fact I think most people are very sympathetic.  It's such a shame when someone self-destructs.  Just a waste that's all.

Part of this is me being selfish, his programmes really were excellent, so I'm just contemplating not having any new ones to add to my collection of recordings. I can't sympathise with his personal position, I'm afraid, since I just don't know how unbearably he's been behaving towards his ex-partner.

I agree with Anty on this one-he's in the middle of a psychological crucible. A man like this in Crouch End would have to have been holding something inside to pass muster there. There's a feeling of The Blues about this debacle, and in an ultimately integratable`way. He's entering the realms of Johnny Cash, umpteen vintage blues performers`et al, so that when and where he returns he'll speak with the authority of experience rather than gush.
