Grigory Sokolov has been forced to cancel his forthcoming 10th May concert at the Barbican, after being compelled to adhere to new visa regulations which his packed schedule can't accommodate:

Quote
He really only does two things. He practises and he goes to concerts and plays.

THREE things!

Practises, goes to concert, plays, goes back home.

FOUR things!

Eats.

FIVE things!...

Now here's an unusual development.  The UK Immigration Service swooped today on a US Rapper, and prevented him crossing the border - details here:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/sep/25/usa.immigrationpolicy

Since he wasn't deported as required, it's clear that an "accommodation" might be in the offing.

Does this mean that you can get into Britain with a criminal record if you're a rapper - but simply being a hard-working law-abiding piano recitalist cuts no ice at all?  Sad

As rather expected, Busta Rhymes was given permission to enter the UK, and perform as scheduled.

The Judge in the case said that he'd taken into consideration the fact that thousands would be disappointed if Rhymes were barred.

Unlike Sokolov, of course....
