I did hear about this briefly, and judging by a very hot-tempered masterclass he gave last year, I can't say I'm very surprised. I remember (vaguely) one altercation:

LH: "I see you've got '____(name of piece)_____ inspired by _____(name of book)_____' written at the top of the page. Have you read this book?"
Student: "No."
LH: "Then why the bloody hell have you got it written there?"

Not a pleasant one. Sad

Crumbs.

Eru, was that the masterclass he gave in late 2006, connected with the Liszt Society? I was there, and I think I remember something like that.

I know Leslie a little (my ex briefly managed him in the UK) and like him and his playing.

...don't quite know about the thread title though, he's not actually going to go to jail unless he does something else comparable in the near future.

Along with the three-year driving ban, Howard was was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, ordered to carry out 80 hours unpaid work and to pay £1,400 costs.

Miss Recorder Lang Q.C., told him: "No public benefit would be served by sending you to prison. I expect you to give priority to the unpaid work, and adjust your professional engagements."

Recorder Lang? Now there's a name.

I think it must have been. I hadn't remembered the Liszt Society were involved, but it does sound familiar now you mention it.

Don't know how I missed the post last night...

Forgive me, my eyes were clearly oversensationalizing, blinding me to the suspendedness of his sentence.

Sorry to disappoint, but I suspect that in this case, Recorder is her judicial title http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recorder_%28judge%29
