I don't know how interested members here will be in this, but I'm finding the whole situation mighty queer.  All of the major political parties are pro-it, and yet it seems that the 'no' posters outnumber them by about 3:2.  There are rumours of a lot of outside interests investing in this campaign in various ways, most notably the fact that the main 'vote no' group, Libertas, has some very shady financial links indeed.  I have yet to read the abridged version of the treaty, so currently have little opinion on the matter either way.

(also, the 'spokesperson' mentioned on that article is one of the slimiest of mercenary politicians active in Ireland at the moment (and he's still in his twenties))

Currently the polls suggest a 30% yes/35% no/35% don't know breakdown.  Which is extremely odd, if you ask me, whichever way you swing.

Well, it sounds as if the Irish have said "No", which invalidates the whole enterprise, although it seems the EU are trying not to see it that way....

EU President last week: 'There is no Plan B.'

EU President today: 'Well, we're exploring our options now...'

In fact the Lisbon Treaty was Plan B. Plan A (the Constitution) had already failed  Tongue

EU President today: 'Er, I meant there is no Plan C then. But it turns out there may be a Plan C after all. And D.'
