I seem to recall reading that Tod Handley had declined a knighthood at some point, though he did take a CBE in 2004.

I'm surprised that the honours system hasn't yet been re-branded with the word 'celebrity' somewhere in the title (he wrily observed).

Ah Joan Bakewell


As a young teenager (1960s) I was infatuated by her, such charm, beauty and intelligence. Actually it was a toss between her and Diana Rigg, sorry that sounds rude, you know what I mean   Cheesy
