The government has just announced that Ofcom’s role will be segmented. This will result in the creation of a number of “mini-Ofcoms”, each dedicated to a particular social class or interest group. Among the first mini-Ofcoms will be:

* Toffcom - for people from the upper echelons of society
* Doffcom - for those with deferential attitudes towards the upper classes
* Quaffcom - for anyone who has sung in Holst’s “At the Boar’s Head”

* Gothcom - for teenagers who like to dress up in black

* Frothcom - for those who like Radio 3 trailers

* Houghcom - for admirers of Engish pianists who have difficulties with the idiosyncracies of English

Slothcom – for lazy citizens

Scoffcom – for those who deem themselves superior

Profcom – reserved for our academics

BorisGodunovcom – for complaints against tyrranical rulers

* Rimsky-Korsak-offcom

nor should we forget the regulator in charge of the correct transliteration of Russian names
