I've been told there are some newly-issued UK stamps of Marie Stopes.  Is that right?  Can anyone confirm?

Not the nicest of people by all accoounts.  She was a pioneer of family planning clinics and advocated sterilisation to ensure racial purity.  She sent books on the subject to Hitler in the '20s and also a love letter.  She disinherited her own son because he married a girl with defective eyesight which she thought shouldn't be passed on.  I'm sure there's a lot more that I wouldn't agree with but needless to say, I won't be buying those stamps.

Isn't it strange though that a number of radical thinkers of that period (HG Wells and Virginia Woolf also spring to mind) seem to us now to have entertained such a weird mixture of progressive and odious ideas?

Not to mention Jack "white man first, socialist second" London and Karl "workers of all lands unite in peace time, slit each other's throats in war" Kautsky.
