How many days until we officially declare war ?

I reckon 8 days.

Na,

the Iraninas have got this detention episode wrong. The ship that was boarded have stated their co-ordinates were within Iraqi waters.

Even the first Iranian data released was wrong.

Of course something else could happen in the next 8 days and we know what Bush is like  Roll Eyes

In "the good old days" of the "Pax Britannica" it would certainly be time for a bit of gunboat diplomacy.  Fortunately we're past the days when we would start a war over a seaman's ear

The only evidence we have of that comes from our own government.

Luckily we know that they would never falsify evidence to justify a war.

Unlike the Iranians, who after independently producing the co-ordinates they had and being told that those were, in fact, Iraqi waters, immediately revised them...  Angry

Eh?

So should we have bombed the Americans when their supplied arms killed UK soldiers in other war-torn countries during the last half-century?

"Sunni militants are being armed with Iranian-made munitions, US military spokesman Maj Gen William Caldwell told reporters in Baghdad."

It would be highly surprising if they weren't, wouldn't it? The main priority in Tehran must surely be to give whatever covert assistance they can in the war of attrition against the occupying forces, which will eventually, one way or another, sooner or later, result in their withdrawal. Also unsurprising is the typical hypocrisy of the US administration in expecting their Iranian counterparts to live up to ethical standards which they have never shown themselves, not when arming anti-democratic forces in central and south America, not when arming the Taliban against the Soviet occupiers of Afghanistan, not when arming Saddam Hussein against both the Iranians and his own subjects, and so on and so on.

If military conflict with Iran breaks out, Byron, I think we can all be sure that our lives are going to become a lot less cooooool.
