It was with great regret that I learned of the death of this remarkable, courageous lady.  I had begun to think she'd thwarted the damn disease, it's been so long since she was diagnosed as terminal.  What wonderful achievements in the last seven years!  She was an example to us all.   She has my heartfelt admiration and my sympathies go to her family at this sad time.

Some people achieve in a short lifetime what many never achieve in a long one.

So courageous, not only in refusing to take things lying down, but also putting herself through further pain instead in order to raise awareness and support. It's a sad indictment of our 'sleb'-obsessed society that useless wasters can make fortunes for themselves through appearing on TV reality shows, whilst the people with the drive to support deserving causes make huge sacrifices to help others (and I don't mean people who do the odd trek, by the way; hers was a 24/7 commitment which raised about £1.75 million, not a few isolated jaunts).
