The death, at 66 after a short illness, of Miles Kington has just been announced. One of our very best comic writers, which more than made up for his membership of 'Instant Sunshine' the rather twee barber-shop singers who were once a ubiquitous feature of R4 - that blasted "Money Box" jingle e.g. His columns for The Times and later The Indie were amazingly consistent in quality and formed the basis for many successful books, not least the fabulous "Let's Parler Franglais" series.

Sad to lose people like Miles Sad   The "Let's Parler Franglais" books are timeless humour classics that transcended the simple linguistic jokes.

Totally agree guys. An unassuming all-rounder who cared enough about his craft not to comprimise it.
Instant Sunshine in their jazzier moments were a marvel-instinctive ensemble.

A belated acknowledgement from me of the genius that was Miles Kington.

RIP Miles, you will be sadly missed in our household. Sad

Good show, worth checking out on LA, warts and all but nobly expressed. Kind of eerie that Coren, Kington and Humph have gone now -I wonder if what we're left with, apart from Ingrams, isn't  more abrasive and narrower, but no doubt the influence will trickle down.

I've not had a chance to check it yet, but as usual, that item should be stored in the Dough Archives....
