That's one heck of a lifetime, both in years and achievement.

 The first time I was aware of her was in that wonderful Stokey Histoire du Soldat (in the original French, unsurprisingly) - O.O.P. just now - where every word seems to have an expressive colour and she creates atmospheres infinitely more detailed and sharply etched than any of her anglophone competition. One of the great recordings of all time, in no small part thanks to her.

How strange: I was thinking of Madeleine Milhaud the other day when I was listening to La Muse Ménagère, played by Grant Johannesen.

I believe that Madeleine Milhaud was the first woman in France who starred in radio commercials. A few years ago, she published her autobiography. I think I'm going to read that book in the near future.
