I was saddened to hear the news of Mitch's death this morning.  It's no slight on the genius of Jimi Hendrix to suggest that Mitch (and the late Noel Redding) were essential to the gorgeous sound of the JH Experience.  I only heard Mitch via recordings but I knew him as a regular customer of a music pub where I was a barman.  He was, as far as I remember, invariably courteous and friendly despite the financial pressure he was under and his tendency to drink rather too much vodka.  It seems he died of natural causes in the middle of a Hendrix legacy tour.  There are worse ways to go.  Goodbye Mitch.

So, all three gone now. The Experience was every bit as much of a three piece band with all members contributing as Cream was. RIP.

Agreed H, I'm not sure that Mitch's contribution was always fully appreciated.

The Experience was every bit as much of a three piece band with all members contributing as Cream was.

...except that Cream didn't have a great guitarist Wink

Quite a good tribute on 'Last Word' today (repeated 2030 Sunday).  There were interviews with Georgie Fame and Rob Wyatt.  I didn't know that Mitch gave Rob the drums he used in his Soft Machine days.
