OK, it's a deal! I wasn't planning on going (partly because I am becoming a bit resistant to David McVicar's approach) but I think I had better. I'll try not to make it a 'duty' visit Smiley.

Well, you'll know not to expect an "authentic" opera seria staging, but this one doesn't have any Bollywood dancing or comic G&S soldiers in it. (It does however have Tito's guards doing aikido or whatever that thing with the poles is, but I found that only a minor irritant.)

Sarah Connolly's convincing acting was rather pivotal to the success of the production's earlier outing, but I'm sure Alice Coote will be good too.

Thank you, harpy, this triggered me into booking at last.

As it happened I did not get the Telegraph discount.  I did not see the box to claim it when booking on line.

With due respect to (no doubt) the many lovely Telegraph readers on this board, I am quite glad no body should have any reason to believe I had ever paid good money to buy the paper in question.

I will be in the Upper Circle on Thursday 21 June in suit, tie and specs.

Cheesy I don't read it either - I just found that while Googling for reviews.

It seems Alice C may have sounded a bit chesty (or something) on the first night but with any luck she'll have recovered by this Thursday when I'm going (anyone else coming then?)

Sorry to disappoint my fans, if any, but circumstances have meant that I will no longer be able to be there.  Maybe Incoranazione di Poppea in the autumn.
