Angel of Death, drunk,
Bungles the end of the world,
Or does he? Who cares?

Turning his back on
His family's calling brings
An image of death.

Well I don't know what most of them are, but I'm enjoying being bewildered.
Has anyone managed to take us all for a ride ?

Can we perhaps have a quick recap?

"Poor naive young fool" is The Rake's Progress, yes?
"Death at the crossroads" is Oedipus (anyone's!)
"Plane lands, hands shaken" is Nixon in China
"Turning his back on..." unless it's Owen Wingrave I don't know what it is.
"Angel of Death, drunk" has got me stumped.
"Governess goes Miles" is Turn of the Screw and it's brilliant.
"Green-eyed monster" is Otello
"One Two Three Four" is Einstein on the Beach and I wish I'd thought of it.

That's all I can see on the page at the moment...

"You can't ever tell" Turn of the Screw
"Infatuation" my, Turn of the Screw's popular... Wink
"Don't myth out" King Priam
"Solsticial union" Midsummer Marriage
"Got the blues?" Knot Garden
"God's chosen boatman", hm, don't know.
"Dropped gun fires" don't know either
"I am becoming" Shadowtime
"Troubled mother" Curlew River
"Forever virgin" Gloriana
"Fairies, Rustics" Hamlet, obviously Wink
"US-Japanese" Madame Butterfly
"Etruscan prince's" Rape of Lucretia
"So, what's in a name" er, Turandot?
"Simple grocer boy" Albert Herring

What have I missed then?
All these operas passing by
Gosh it's getting late.

Ollie, the gun is dropped right at the start of the opera, killing the heroine's dad, leading to a massive chain of events, disguises, duels etc that is pretty difficult to encapsulate in a haiku!! Verdi....?  Wink
