http://www.ruhrtriennale.de/en/programm/programm-07/merlin-oder-das-wueste-land/I'll be in the area on 2/3 October and I found this on operabase.com Do any of you erudite people know anything about it or about the people responsible for it? My German isn't good enough to follow it without a text (and, preferably, a translation) and I suspect such things won't be available at an event like this; so I'm rather relying on the visual and musical content being strong enough to hold my attention throughout. Any clues would be most welcome.
I'm also hoping to catch Tannhäuser in Hagen. I have a good idea what to expect in a German provincial opera house but if anyone has heard that it's particularly awful - or, indeed, particularly good and likely to sell out - I'd be interested to get this information. Do you get extra points for seeing Wagner in Hagen, btw, or do you only get them for seeing Götterdämmerung there?
