A long life indeed. Sad that he's passed. I know him mainly through live Met recordings from the 40s including a wonderful Boheme with Bjorling and Sayao, and Manon Lescaut with Bjorling and Kirsten. There can be very few of these 'golden age' singers left now - perhaps only the great Licia Albanese. I know Di Stefano and Bergonzi are thankfully still with us too, but I always think of them as slightly 'later' singers.
