The word "London" gives you a clue why I wouldn't be able to...  I am not in London for more than 15 days per year.

byron,

Do you actually ever read anything on this board other than your own posts? Otherwise it would surely not have escaped your notice that Reiner is based in Moscow, and that since he only occasionally visits London, his becoming an assistant is an unlikely prospect.

Best wishes,
Ron

Do you ever actually read that reiner often comes to london and asks if anyone fancies joining him at the opera on a certain date ?

All you have to do is put up an event, say 'get your own ticket and see you in the pub before for drinks'.

Often, byron? If you'd bothered to read his post above mine before answering you would have noticed that he himself mentions that he's not in London for above 15 days a year.

Lord Byron, I'm afraid I simply have very little need of meetup groups.  Although I make the majority of my ticket bookings for myself alone, I see people I know at EVERYTHING (even if it's a performance outside London).  Even if I'm not aware in advance that certain friends will be there the same night, by the time the interval is over I've invariably run into a selection of friends and acquaintances and made plans for the pub afterwards.

Much as I love my friends, I have a fond recollection of the days when I used to be able to go to something on my own, leave after curtain-down and go straight home.

I'm out six nights this week and five nights next week; I have enough trouble trying to fit "life" around my music-related social life as it is, without adding to it further!

I think it's a good idea Lord B - it's just that us (relative) old-timers tend to have accumulated various opera-going pals, and trying to meet up with everyone can be a bit challenging. But I'm sure there are a lot of people who'll be glad to have someone to go with.
