I'm no Strauss fan (except for the Oboe Concerto and the early Burleske, etc.), but this sounds rather fine to me.

Can't fault it, Bryn.  I thought the orchestra in particular seemed in great form.  I've had one eye on my inbox and an ear to the phone - which I had to answer three times and which caused me to miss the dance - throughout, so I'm glad my colleague, who's a 'Salome' nut, is MDing it.   I'm sure it'll be worth an uninterrupted hearing at some time.

R3, today, matches London Transport buses, Bryn.   Roll Eyes   Everything comes in two.   A fine double:  Massenet's lyricism in "Manon", this afternoon,
followed by the savagery of Strauss's "Salome" tonight.

"A double blessing is a double grace."     (Laertes)
