This is my next scheduled trip to the opera and I'm looking forward to it. Sawer is a supremely theatrical composer. Iannucci I find occasionally brilliant, occasionally annoying.

Thanks for mentioning this.
I have to say I'm not particularly enamoured by the whole concept of not just another (what looks like) straight-forward narrative opera (see the Eötvös thread for more rant) but a rather glitzy one at that. I hope that there are added levels of ambiguity and nuance under the bandages.
I think that Newcastle looks like the best bet for me.
