Has anyone seen 'a night in venice ?'.

I am keen to see it on dvd with english subtitles before going to see it in german ( assuming that ), have to admit, I am intrigued by the idea of an opera by Staruss.

Ho Lord Byron.  I have known this work for some 30 years and it is still one of my favourites.  There is a very good DVD (number VLMD005) of it obtainable from Play.com (UK).  It's performed on the vast "floating stage" at the Seefestspiele Morbisch and the production is superb, the cast very good and the whole thing worth having for about £14.90.  Go for it. You won't be disappointed.   On my copy there are no sub-titles but there is a score (library?) with English translation that is probably still available.
Cheers.

p.s.  If you want a synopsis this is a good one:-  http://musicaltheatreguide.com/composers/straussjnr/nightinvenice.htm
