Currently listening, and sitting here speechless at such a grippingly unbelievable scorcher of a performance of Mahler 5. We're just started the third movement, and it's something really quite special as it is. Pins and needles galore. I really think I might increase my Proms total to 38 and go to theirs.

I think I've spouted enough, so other reactions?!

I was busy doing other things, but recorded it (FM to hard drive @ 16/44.1) out of interest. The odd moments that I did hear almost trapped me in the room - I'm very much looking forward to sitting down and listening in earnest; what I heard sounded burningly committed.

I have a copy of their Mahler 5 CD on DG. It's pretty fiery. It's also purely on the precisionometer registering quite a lot higher than pretty well any recording older than a couple of decades. I don't know if I'm going to get as far as unconditionally loving it given all the other Mahler 5s in my life but it's an amazing achievement. I'd be going to see them.
