From Sgr Vincenzo Bellini to Mr Gordon Brown, PM.

Dear Bruno,

Yes, I think we can have you a Chavkovsky Festival Orchestra in time for your Olympics (or perhaps you prefer Feltham Philharmonic). Will Lionel Blair wish to be conducting?

Yours,

Vincenzo

Hi Vince!

or at least that's how these wee spin doctor fellows are telling me a letter is supposed to begin. Who is this Blair? I seem to remember some upstart neighbour of mine with a scoundrelly grin constantly on his face who had a name like that, but as far as I recall he played the electric guitar. Personally I'd prefer someone like Dizzee Rascal to do the conducting. He da best, as they say.

Awesome!

Does anybody know if there's a new date for the programme that was supposed to be shown last night on BBC1, about the various youth orchestras which played at the proms?  (The Pavarotti tribute bumped it out of the way, like a big man chasing a bowl of pasta...)

I'd taped this and hadn't got round to watching, so didn't realise that it had been binned for a Pav tribute until reading your post. Anyway, just had a quick listen to the announcer at the start of the programme and he said the youth orchestras feature will now be shown next Thursday ( 13th )
