Whilst I was queuing on Friday, a woman came round with a camcorder asking queuers what they would like to hear at the proms in future seasons.  The camcorder bit was just to gather info, and they'll be doing the real interviews with proper cameras on Sunday 26 August.

So, Rog the Dodge might actually be listening to audience members, but if he is doing it on a democratic basis we'll be getting "Classic FM at the Proms".

The 'screen tester / info gatherer' woman was asking mainly about what works people would like to hear.  I pushed her down the route of saying that the variety was pretty good at the mo, but I wanted to see more orchestras / performers throughout the season, and not so much reliance on the BBCSO (good though they are).  I also suggested some programming themes.

I can't make Sunday's prom, so I don't think my comments will be included.  Poo poo plop.

Tommo,

As regards garnering a democratic wish list for future seasons' repertoire, it's surely heartening that they made the initial enquiries of a queue for Schoenberg, Knussen and Stravinsky?

And the Sunday 26th August queue will be for Britten, Martinu and Prokofiev.  I'll be there - perhaps I had better give my wish list some thought in case they interview me Wink
