I hope this is the right place to post.

I think the post-Prom collection is a great idea and am glad to hear it's going well this year despite the various crunches.

Am I right in thinking the Musicians' Benevolent Fund is one of the charities that benefits? If so I wonder (assuming others agree) if it might be worth registering a protest against the proposed closure of their residential home, mentioned here: http://www.thestage.co.uk/news/newsstory.php/21481/musicians-benevolent-fund-closes-performers

There is a letter from one of the residents here:

Edited to add: for balance, here's the MBF position on the closure: http://www.mbf.org.uk/Default.aspx?page=news

MBF is indeed one of the charities that will benefit from the collection.  Unfortunately we had a trustees' meeting on Sunday without being aware of this issue, and we're now not scheduled to meet again (formally) until October, but I'll make sure it's brought to the attention of the other trustees.  I believe that generally money raised by PMC goes more towards MBFs work for young musicians than this end of the scale.

Thank you, David Smiley

If the trustees agree, it might still be putting in a word whenever, since I suppose the donation is reasonably substantial.
