Dear Michael

I have just seen on the BBC Site that they will be introducing a CD Review board over there so that new releases can be discussed.

Would there be any possibility of that happening over here too? I find that most of my purchases come from reading people's rants about new discs. Always a good thing!

Thanks

Nick

tapiola,

It might not be useful to exactly duplicate a forum already on the official R3MB, but new releases and CDs in general are obviously going to be topics here, so I agree we need something rather than lose such discussions in the 'Classical Music on R3' section.

So maybe OUR CD Review can discuss the reviews on the R3 show AND include discussions on any new CD ?

What do members here think?

Michael

P.S. remember for older CDs there is a Collectors' Resource section (near foot of our home page)

Michael

That sounds incredibly sensible to me. What I was hoping to see is an area where we freely discuss the things that you mention and NOT just those discussed on Radio 3.

Perhaps just call it the 'New Releases' board, or something similar? You choice of course.....just a suggestion.

Thanks

Michael/Nick,

I agree that this forum can offer listeners much more than the R3MB's from Monday.

As well as R3's CD Review there's the BBC Music Magazine with pages and pages detailing new releases, and Gramophone etc., and this forum can discuss all of that if we designate a new topic to keep it all together

I like the topic name 'CD Review'  Wink

OK then, any new CD releases and those featured on R3's CD Review show are obviously going to be topics here, so I agree we need a new Topic/Section to discuss the reviews on the R3 show AND include our own reviews/discussions on any new CD

So let's try a poll so we can decide on the topic title by tomorrow (when the R3MB's start up):

scroll up to the top of this thread and place your vote, or post another suggestion for the name of the Topic

Thanks

Thank you Ron.

OK folks, just a reminder we need a new Topic/Section to discuss the reviews on the R3 show AND to include our own reviews/discussions on any new (or NEWISH) CD

Only had a few votes in, but please note that Ron has now added another nice little possibility for a topic title. Get voting, you can change your mind later too.

Oh, precisely as the new R3 messageboard went up 11.08am our own CD Review topic went up here, with a nod to Ron's Disc-overies suggestion

Nice one.

Heh, heh, looks like it's sorted now.

I find it odd that this thread had over 100 views yet only 12 votes. Maybe those 12  people checked about 8 times each to see how the vote was going  Cheesy
