I don't wish to upset any Sutherland fans but is there any chance you could change the Opera picture to one of someone else now? A tenor would be nice...

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Does it have to be a tenor MJ? For a baritone I recommend "The Siberian Tiger" ? If the picture stays of a female I nominate Anna Netrebko. I think she is swooningly gorgeus!

Ah, the youth of today, so easily impressed by outward show....
There are plenty of other greats to consider; since we've had Sutherland, the obvious next candidate should surely be Callas?

Ron, as usual you are right but you must admit (and I have just added photo of Anna) they are both incredibly attractive.
I guess Callas would be the obvious choice, who would you suggest for a male candidate, Pavarotti perhaps?

Nah. Let's go with experience, quality, broad appeal and not too much girth.

I'd be very happy with the tenor suggested (suprise, suprise) or the Russian baritone. But I just love contraltos: There is nothing like a Dame.

Googling "opera singer" offers some possibilities. Here's the second: or even

Well this thread is a timely reminder that I was going to change all the homepage images, make them smaller, and these were the candidatesI've actually forgotten where I got the opera image. In fact those new image sizes are too small, really, to have recognisable artistes on them though the jazz ones might be recognisable...... Maybe I'll start again? If folks post their suggestions on here for anything, I can work out a slightly bigger image size (smaller than current) There are a few von Otter fans here

Someone who's likely to elbow Ms Fleming off her (somewhat undeserved) perch as top American lyric soprano: Danielle de Niese I could somehow be persuaded to accept her as the face of the Opera section

No chance Reiner, we must not just go for eye-candy!! Well, she's been wowing them at Glyndebourne this season, Antheil... so I think she can avoid the accusation of being eye-candy. Or at least, of being merely eye-candy
