John,

In case you didn't catch it in other postings, it would be really good to understand how the Depression Room thread went missing.

Not asking for it to be reinstated, just need to know how the ground lies and what sort of things we need to do (or not do) avoid losing a thread.

Thanks

I've talked to Michael about this, we can think only that the original author was able to delete it. So we're investigating this and will remove that ability, hopefully, we don't want to see other threads going the same way.

I hadn't looked on the Depression thread for some time but I had the impression that there was some helpful stuff on there and folks were bonding, so I'm sorry that the thread has gone.

Will come back with a resolution hopefully.

Cheers John, Michael,

Seems fair to me that a poster should be able to remove their own postings (including message 1) but even if message 1 is removed, subsequent replies should not be removed (unless by agreement).

Does pose a problem with quotes though

Thanks for investigating this

Hey,

I've done some permissions updating and it should now work like this:

Users can still delete their own posts, as long as it isn't the first post in a thread. This message should appear if it is attempted:

Quote
You are not allowed to delete the first post in a topic.

If you want to delete this topic, click on the Remove Topic link, or ask a moderator/administrator to do it for you.

Previously users could delete their own topic, even if it had hundreds of posts, this now cannot be done.

Hope this helps,

Michael.

I suppose users can stil go in and edit message one, and remove all the text there?

That would seem a reasonable thing to allow.

Cheers
