Quick question re The Queen of Spades on BBC4 last night (Sorry. I know this is a R3 MB ). Tongue

Was the bass who played one of Yeletskys friends the same who sang Shostakovich's 13th at last years Proms ?

How well Tchaikovsky portraits dark side of character or of our phyche.
After listening to the The Queen of Spades I am amazed again how life like picture Tchaikovsky portrait.
I think he one of the great opera composers ever.
The picture of old time Russia, the rich lady and poor relations, German with his rant and madness, poor Liza.
I enjoyed the last performance on Radio 3. All Russian cast was good.
