Mark Weil, the Artistic Director of Ilkhom Theatre in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, has been murdered.

http://ilkhom.com/english

Weil's controversial and avant-garde productions had been severely criticised in Government-sponsored newspapers in Uzbekistan. Most recently Weil had brought his new production "Ludmila's Broken English" to London in a joint production with Blow-Up, at the Lyric, Hammersmith.

Initial reports into his death suggest that it was a premeditated attack commited by hired assailants.

A brilliant creative voice has been silenced.  Sad  Sad  Sad

Terrible and chilling news. I see there are already several different and contradictory theories being put about on the net as to who might be behind this, and why. It's appalling that this has happened and almost as appalling that one doesn't have much expectation that the truth will ever be known.
