Twice as many members and more discussion of serious music: http://www.good-music-guide.com/community/index.php

Even our much missed Sydney Grew is still going strong over there. Their software is very similar to that used by the present message-bored but with a good many additional features; perhaps a later version. One has to know how to talk to Northern Americans though.

Not so much "missed" as "Mis’essed", as Hardy might have put it.

Speaking as a (UK-based) member of GMG - as it's commonly known - and as someone who posted extensively there in the previous incarnation of the site (before the software corrupted, sadly resulting in the loss of all the archived threads, some of them very interesting indeed), I can recommend it to anyone who's curious. As the post to which my signature links will attest, I like to move freely between several forums. It keeps things fresh for me, and enables me to participate in a broad range of discussions with a wide variety of intelligent and knowledgeable folks.

Well. Er. Yes. I've just 'ad a geek and I must say that I am tempted to mosey on down and join in the general intellectualitarisation. I am particularly impressed by the links to the availabiltyness of all the attractive women in my zipcodalocality.

Hmm ... yes. There can be a less mature element to GMG, I have to admit. Sad Not Just in terms of the banners ads aimed at a younger audience (the site administrator's running costs top AU$2,000 annually, so who can blame him for allowing these?), but also in terms of younger folk who occasionally pop up, post something insubstantial, get silly, then disappear. But don't let that deter you. Wink

I have no doubt that all of my posts are meaningless, insubstantial, silly and will eventually disappear, and it serves me bloody well right as far as I'm concerned ....

Well at least that sort of thing never happens here.
