No puffs coming out of my laptop either

Although if Norton antivirus keeps on going like it is, things might blow up.

I've not heard from Michael. I think he must be out this evening.

I am, though, concerned at the Waffle on this thread which may have deterred some from voting.

Maybe the new moderation team will need to appoint a Waffle Controller, someone who moves disruptive off-topic Waffle to the Waffle thread after consultation with Wafflers (which should mostly involve just telling the Wafflers to Waffle  Off!).

John,

Waffle or not, we didn't get a notification from Michael this time (as we did last week) that the polls were even open in the first place!

Yes we did, the first message of this thread says:

Hey guys,

Closing date for self nominations is Saturday 27/10/2007 at 13:00
Closing date for Seconds is Saturday 27/10/2007 at 19:00

Poll Start Date is Saturday 27/10/2007 at 19:00
Poll End Date is Monday 29/10/2007 at 19:00

but it was smothered by waffle I fear

I saw that, John, but last week Michael posted updates in his Poll Day thread, which was sensibly locked so no-one could sidetrack it:

Point is, unless someone other than Michael (John?) has access to the Poll account, MH was online, using that account right up till the poll closed at 7 tonight. I assumed it was M counting votes or something. Strange there's been no announcement, in light of the very prompt announcement of the first Mod.

I'm not casting seeds of scepticism; just want all this over soon.

IGI,

So we DID get a notification from Michael this time (as we did last week) that the polls were open!

martle, yes only Michael can count the votes from the mesages sent to the R3ok_Poll, I don't have access to those messages. Michael would need to log in as R3ok_Poll to do the count. If any new mod wants to check those votes I'm sure Michael would give them the login.

No John, we didn't. We were told when the polls were going to open and when they were going to close, but no announcement that they had done so. And, at the risk of being pedantic, we weren't actually given the full result last time, only informed who the winner was.

10.00 pm News, ITV.  There are reports of thick black smoke coming in from the Papal Palace, otherwise locally known to some as the Moderator Poll on the R3 OK(not) Boreds.

A Spokesman is reported as saying "Two many Parishoners were Waffling whilst fingering their Rosaries.  This clouded their Judgement and consequently many fell by the wayside."

The Vote is expected to be announced as Null and Void because of said Two Wafflers, etc., etc.

And now we switch over, live, to our Very Own Correspodent and Sister Tapioca of the Order of Pumpkins without the Walls.

"Sister Tapioca, have you news about this last minute sensational swing to Mort?"

"Well, to be sure, to be sure.  Now, I don't have any definite facts, but I think her lemon habit may have swung it with certain young gentlemen entitled to vote"

John

I've been trying to steer clear of arguments on these boards since everything blew up 3 or 4 weeks ago, although I did stop posting for almost 2 weeks (despite your curious claim in another thread that I was one of the people who had continued contributing to this boards and was obviously happy with the way things were being run).

But I simply don't see the point of you continually popping up to talk about splitting threads, moving messages, banning waffle etc. Would it be possible for you and Michael to clarify what your role now is, and what it will be once 3 moderators (possibly including yourself) have been elected? Because at the moment it seems you're the one who still has all the admin powers, Oliver Sudden doesn't have any of those despite having been elected moderator, and I'm not quite sure why we've bothered electing him if you're the one who's going to continue doing all the Admin stuff.

And rather than complain about people waffling on this thread, why don't you actually acknowledge that IGI has a relevant point, which is that Michael emailed all members last week about the 1st poll (albeit very much at the last minute, and only at my suggestion). Why was this not done again this week? And why were various other procedural things not made clear, e.g. there is no explanation in the first message on this thread that new people could put themselves forward in the 2nd round, although Michael mentioned this elsewhere?

I didn't get an email.......?

I am with IGI, last time we had a thread saying the poll was open, then supposedly off we went, this time it was very difficult to remember where the information had been put.. IMHO. I was out this evening so even if I had eventually found it I was too late.!!

Oh come off it A, the pole opened 2 days ago and there were appropriate messages posted here relating to it. I'm sure Michael has something more pressing to deal with at the moment than announcing the result of the second vote, otherwise he would have let us know by now, wouldn't he? Wouldn't he?
