And here we have a late news flash!  Over to you Suleyman Gosh!

"It has been reported that Voters feel they have been disenfranchised due to not receiving emails about the second round of votes.  However, as the poster known as 'A' has admitted, she was off gavillanting with her bloke, so could have missed knowing what time of day it was never mind what year it was - so in love, sweet."

"This is Suleyman Gosh returning you to the studio, as yet we have not been able to locate Mort, the Dark Horse in this Race for an in-depth interview, we are now trying to locate a member of the Green Party, Mr. Martle, who may have a clue as to her whereabouts"

This is Suleyman Gosh signing (sighing) out for the time being.

I simply don't see the point of you continually popping up to talk about splitting threads, moving messages, banning waffle etc.

Sorry t_i_n, but some people are clearly not keeping up with the poll and this thread has confused them. I'm not banning waffle (and I didn't ban politics either, just threads PROMOTING politics).

Quote
Would it be possible for you and Michael to clarify what your role now is

I suppose I'm still an administrator but I'm not exercising any of the duties during the poll. I'm just posting my opinion as a member.

Quote
and what it will be once 3 moderators (possibly including yourself) have been elected?

I'll either be a mod or I won't be. It would be up to Michael whether I retain admin duties, being like joint owner, but if I'm not a mod then I won't moderate messages.

Quote
at the moment it seems you're the one who still has all the admin powers, Oliver Sudden doesn't have any of those despite having been elected moderator

Yes he does. Ollie is a Mod right now, but I am not communicating with him in that capacity because I am currently behaving as if my mod and admin duties are suspended.

Quote
And rather than complain about people waffling on this thread, why don't you actually acknowledge that IGI has a relevant point, which is that Michael emailed all members last week about the 1st poll (albeit very much at the last minute, and only at my suggestion). Why was this not done again this week?

Right, yes, I do ackowledge that Michael has not sent a round-robin.
[Edit/correction: a member-wide e-mail was in fact sent 25/10/07, see later confirmation in this thread]

Quote
And why were various other procedural things not made clear, e.g. there is no explanation in the first message on this thread that new people could put themselves forward in the 2nd round, although Michael mentioned this elsewhere?

It's all mentioned somewhere. Use the complaint button and discuss it with Michael.

Are quite sure that was an email and not a PM, opi? There again, it may have been an email advising of thes ending of a PM with that content.

Thanks for making it so clear to me Bryn that I am incapable of keeping up with this crazy board... I can't find ANYTHING these days.

No, Bryn, it was a newsletter announcement in the form of an email. It didn't end up in the 'My Messages' PMs. Interestingly, it did encourage several people to log in, who hadn't been seen for months. Still only 40 votes in the first round, though, so I'm not sure how many bothered to vote.

I don't know what it was, but I got what opi had.

Anyway, isn't this all getting rather silly?

Perhaps Michael has had something important to attend to?  He cannot be at our beck and call all the time.

And until Ollie and the other two have their feet under the table, perhaps it is fine that John can keep things neat.

Transition times are always a bit turbulent - just hang on in there people.

With respect, John, you're not behaving as if anything of the sort! You are telling people not to waffle (I agree that it's unhelpful for people to be waffling on this thread, but why are you the one who should be encouraging them not to do so?), you are commenting on procedural matters in Michael's absence, and in general your presence on the boards in an 'Administrator/Moderator' capacity seems as high as ever. I find this highly inappropriate, and I'm amazed if other people don't feel the same way.

Oh, I see. That's a distinction that I'm not aware has been made before. I was somehow under the impression we were electing people to do what had previously been described as 'Administrator/Moderator' duties. I hadn't realised we might vote in 3 moderators and then still have different people doing the admin duties. I think it will be hard to draw a clear line between the one and the other, won't it?

Edit: Re opilec's email, yes, the one I got may have been about the 2nd poll. I'm a bit confused now. But I definitely have only had one email, and there have been 2 polls. So it remains true that the procedure for informing members of the polls was inconsistent.

It was an email (after Michael had been prodded to send one) about the 1st Poll.

"Hullo, over to our own correspondent Suleyman, who has breaking news!"

Hullo London, Suleyman calling.  We have intercepted a message from someone called Bryn who posted (and we quote) - Oh come off it A, the pole opened 2 days ago

It seems we have the Polish workers question raised again, and, what does a Pole have to do with this Massage Bored Fracas?  Does this shadowy MB owner own acres of polytunnels in Herefordshire?

Questions will be asked in the House.

Over to Jeremy Paxman ....

Crikey - doesn't everyone go mad when a simple question is asked? I daren't ask who is the second moderator, I may be accused of stirring up people's emotions or something......

A - The poll finished at 7pm, Michael hasn't been online since around 5pm, so the result can't have been announced yet. Don't worry, you haven't missed it! Kiss
