Congratulations Mort!  Kiss Grin Kiss

Thanks to everyone who's generously stood in these elections and a big thank you to Michael for organising them.

We beam out our felicitation to Madame Morticia and should we find ourselves in a ticklish spot anticipate enlisting her.

By the same token we convey for the loss of his post commiseration to Member Wright in each of the three elections the option of us at least.

Oh Golly Mort!  Three votes for you from this camp, and you're finally in.

Do we have to salute you now and click our heels?

Well done Mort, I've missed all the excitement the pats seven days because we've been on a family-related trip of discovery in Jamaica (more on Coffee Break threads when I get time)

So, I bow out (or will bow out) from the moderation team. Please accept my sincere thanks to all members here who have contributed responsibly to this R3ok forum these past 10 months or so. In fact I should also thank those who posted IRresponsibly on here, there have been just a few, for allowing me to increase my knowledge of how troublesome some people can be on the internet.

Sincere thanks to those who have voted for me in the three rounds of elections. I don't know who they all were but I know some from PMs received.

The new team will hopefully find, like Michael and myself did, that they have very little to do in terms of 'message moderation'. Things have settled down again here recently so I sincerely hope that my absence from the mod lot does not signal a free-for-all for bullying, pornography and political extremism to test the new team  Roll Eyes

Y'all be good now.

Thanks John Kiss Bet Jamaica was more exciting than here (and warmer) <shiver emoticon>

"bullying, pornography and political extremism to test the new team" ?  Cripes, don`t go putting ideas in peeps heads Grin We may have to don body armour as well as our L plates!  Cheesy Cheesy

Hope you had a good break. Thanks for all the hard work, not to mention the time that you`ve put in here together with Michael to keep this particular ship afloat.

Actually John, it WAS a lot of work, particularly in the early days of the board - setting up the features and giving it a feel and a structure, and for that I thank you too.  Smiley

HURRAH!

Many thanks, John, for all your work here - you've done an enormous amount to make this place what it is. I do hope to see you around plenty in future.

And very much a completing hurrah from me, too, John: the whole way that the board looks and operates is very much down to you: I'm only just beginning to appreciate exactly what a huge amount of work (and time) you've given for the benefit of us all.

Looking forward to hearing about your travels,

Ron

Thanks for the hurrahs folks.

'The way the forum looks...' - boards subjects/titles, links/images yes I implemented much of that, mostly through consultation. I assume the mods' authorities allow those to be changed/updated etc. Some html knowledge is required for the image stuff.

Actually John, it WAS a lot of work, particularly in the early days of the board - setting up the features and giving it a feel and a structure, and for that I thank you too.  Smiley

martle,

that sort of admin duty does take time, but I was referring earlier particularly to moderation duties which have NOT really taken up much time because it's a generally well-behaved and respectable forum; responding to postings which challenge the authority of mods, difficult postings which might be trying to target/bully someone, dealing with different levels of pornography and and postings which question the level of public decency that we should tolerate, and we HAVE had just a few of those, it's not always advisable to leave certain things on the forum for long - mods can stick them in the archive and discuss later etc etc., so I'm saying that in the past THAT sort of thing has not taken up much time, but it does happen  - as Mort says, I hope I'm not encouraging any mischief from some of the dafter elements here  Roll Eyes
