So, I bow out (or will bow out) from the moderation team.

Thanks from me too John for all your hard work enabling this to become such a marvellous place to waffle er, discuss music.

Merely corroborative detail, intended to give artistic verisimilitude to an otherwise bald and unconvincing narrative.

Thanks MJ, now the new mods have to learn the tricky task of splitting waffle postings from the good music threads and adding the split to the main waffle thread.  Tongue

Thank you to all. And please know that already I am impressed with the actions/discussions that I've seen already by the new mod team, the forum is in good hands Smiley

Things have settled down again here recently so I sincerely hope that my absence from the mod lot does not signal a free-for-all for bullying, pornography and political extremism to test the new team  Roll Eyes

Oh, all those troublemakers are posting their nonsense on [Music] [and] [Society] (respectively) now from what I've heard  ...

I do think a vote a especially warm thanks are due to John W for playing a crucial part in the way this board has been managed and developed since its inception. John was recognised by Michael quite early on for having pertinent skills and experience in getting a message board going with decent order, and the format we have here was largely implemented (with due consultation) by JW.

just wondering why it still says 'admistrator moderator' on your id, john?
is it something you can't change - like 'sponsered'?
i *promise* - and i feel i have to - that there's no side or facetiousness in this post; i assume i've missed someting in some thread somewhere.

Thanks tonybob, the title has been updated.

I no longer have moderator authority to remove/edit/close messages/threads. I still have technical/admin access for forum maintenance and technical issues. Trust me!  Smiley

Perhaps this might be a good time to mention that the first unanimous decision of the new moderation team was to ask Michael to sound out John W about remaining as an Administrator. It's very plain from the messages here that we're far from alone in appreciating all his dedication to the look and functionality of the board, and I for one am delighted to hear that he will be staying with us in this capacity. Great news, John.

That seems like an excellent solution. Thanks, all of you, for your hard work - and also for the clarification of everyone's positions and roles.

Thanks Ron, mort, ollie, and t_i_n, tonybob, seems I've won a teeny little election then  Cheesy

I did win a proper election once, elected by employees to be their pensions trustee at my last employer, part of a team managing 90million pounds of pension funds. That was a lot easier than modding on this place  Grin
