I was in a local Oxfam music shop the other day and noticed that their 78s were stacked on their edges.  I was brought up to believe you should store 78s flat, and LPs on their edges.

Can anyone give me a clue as to the right storage conditions etc for LPs and 78s?

Ta muchly

Hi tommo,

Store them vertically, in sleeves. If they are stored/piled horiziontally there is an increased risk of damage by crackng and warping if not exactly flat, and when moving them. Similarly if they are leaning and not exactly vertical they can warp

I published an article on 78 storage in a FAQ series at my own website:

John

Extremely useful.  Many thanks.

I shall disappear this evening into my mother's loft to rescue what I can.......

Cheers Tommo, I suppose the same storage advice applies to LPs.
