While I am not a native of this continent, I would like to thank everyone who has expressed their good wishes to the Americans here.

About a week ago, as they were going to leave for places elsewhere (with a handful of unfired rockets), the chiddlers celebrated early with fireworks which they had bought themselves, since they are now of age to do so.

I am happy to be able to report that when last seen, they still had all anatomical extremities uncooked (although I was sitting on the back of the van with the ignition key in my pocket watching in mildly horrified amazement at some of the antics).

It occurs to me now to wonder, with the recent spate of terrorist activity in the UK, whether I know where my children have been with fireworks! Embarrassed

Sousa, Copland et al
What an odd pairing! (One of my favourite composers thrown in with one it would never occur to me to listen to.)

Not in that respective order, I would assume (By Copland, I mean, almost exclusively, his piece FFtCM).

Blimey. You start a thread (don't you, Ron?) innocently offering best wishes to our valued US cousins, and you get a constitutional/ historical brouhaha. R3ok rocks!

Tinners, what do you admire so in Sousa then?  Cheesy (Seriously, and as you'll not be surprised to learn, I share your enthusiam for the other guy. Could be a thread topic in fact...)

Oh yes, martle, a pebble is chucked innocently into the pond, and the expanding circles create interference patterns....

... which reminds me, I've been meaning to start a thread picking up on something you said yesterday. Bit tired now - will do it tomorrow afternoon hopefully. You do Aaron in the meantime if you want, and I'll join in later!

Night tinners. I think I'll formulate my Aaron C (not Cassidy) thread overnight as well.
