Sorry, guys and gals across the pond: I'd meant to post this earlier. I hope its tardiness will in no way belittle its intention.

Ron, of course it's only 11am, at the earliest/ easternmost, NOW in the US! (I estimate Kitty must do her messageboarding over an early breakfast!)
Happy 4th, y'all!

Yippee! Our fine nation is 231 today. A mere piker, a babbling infant, compared to the nation inhabited by the dominant majority. Hopefully we will make it to 232. *boom*

Evan, Your message suggests that you think the UK goes back to 1066 or the Book of Genesis or something ancient. The Act of Union was 1707 so only a generation difference from USA, yeah? John W

Mind you, John, had Evan said "nations" in the plural, that would have sufficed, bearing in mind that the constituent parts of the union had previously existed as nations in their own right.

Yeah, what he said. Just a typo, that was.

Although now that you all have a Scottish PM, who knows what the future holds? (Trying to imagine an equivalent here to how, say, Londoners relate to a Scottish PM... a President from Alaska?! )

Well, it's different, t-p: not a dish I'd normally associate with the States.

We had a rehearsal (played for a friend) whose wife is an american (lives here close to 40 years). She has problems with her stomach, but can eat musaka. I never say no to musaka. She also made a nice chockolade cake. I like BBQ food, but I know it is not very healthy.

In that case we should not ignore the fact that before the Europeans arrived in the 'American' continent there had been an Apache nation and a Mohican nation etc etc
