The ties that bind

« on: 22:05:44, 22-09-2007 »

Hello everyone! I am brassbandmaestro, who some of you may know from the R3 messageboards. I came across this quite by accident.

I am an active amateur musician, who regularly meets up for weekly rehersals at band once a week down in the Brighton area. Ive been involved in music making since I was 9. I am now 51!! Hopefully I will have a good time here.

Welcome bbm,

Very nice to have someone post a hello!  Hope you have fun here, and learn, and meet friends, and .... well whatever will make for a good time.

Perfect Wagnerite is a Brighton-er, I believe, so maybe say hi there.

Well, a Patcham-er actually - we like to look back to the days when we were a separate little village nestling under the downs, before we got swallowed up by our racier seaside neighbours  Wink

Welcome brassbandmaestro - hope you enjoy it here, it's a fun and friendly place.

That would be me!!  Grin Well, Hove actually, but it's going that way as well. So that's three of us! (And perhaps four - I think you'll find a certain Blue Sheep around these parts too.  Wink

A most warm welcome, brassbandmaestro.

I've been trying to recall the lyrics from "Sweet Charity"   "I'm a brassband, I'm a harpsichord, I'm a clarinet....that's me!"

A hearty welcome, brassbandmaestro!

Although I only play for my neighbour's torment these days, I was a sometime Repiano Cornet player in my youth Smiley  There are quite a few other present or lapsed brass-players here, so you are in good company Smiley  And not all of us have leather jackets, motorbikes or moustaches Smiley

Ah yes - presumably you were playing to save Brighton Bandstand ....

(not a particularly flattering picture)

Nice to find someone who is both a brass player (I'm afraid I fall into the lapsed category, having played the horn in my younger days) and who has a connection with the village

PW, no, that pic does it no justice at all! It's a fantastic thing, is that. A jewel in the seafront's crown. Here's power to your valves, BBM!
